Our Journey: From Vintage Decor to a Sustainable Bohemian Collective

Our Journey: From Vintage Decor to a Sustainable Bohemian Collective

Hey Moon Child! Today, I want to share a piece of my heart with you—the story behind how Willow+Wicker came to be and why sustainability has always been at the core of our mission.

A Love for the 70’s and a Vision for Sustainability

My journey with Willow+Wicker began with a deep love for the 70’s and a passion for sustainable living. It all started with sourcing beautiful vintage home decor pieces from the 70's. The era’s unique charm and vibrant spirit spoke to me, and I wanted to bring that nostalgia into modern homes, all while keeping our planet in mind.

With a background in fashion and retail, I envisioned Willow+Wicker not just as a vintage home decor brand but as an eclectic bohemian collective that celebrates sustainability. I made a promise to myself and to you, our amazing community, that I would never compromise that original vision. Every step I took was guided by a commitment to sustainability, ensuring that every product Willow+Wicker offered was both beautiful and eco-friendly.

Expanding Our Horizons

As Willow+Wicker grew, so did our commitment to sustainability. I carefully selected clothing brands that were fully sustainably made. I tested each piece for durability and longevity, steering clear of the fast fashion industry’s pitfalls. Every item in our collection was hand chosen with the intention of lasting for years, reducing waste, and celebrating timeless style.

If any products arrived with plastic protection, I made sure to recycle them through Terracycle, keeping them out of landfills. We also ensured that all our packaging is either recyclable or biodegradable, making it easy for you to dispose of them responsibly. To date, we have recycled over 20 pounds of plastic packaging!

Adding Eco-Friendly Alternatives

Our journey didn’t stop at clothing. I wanted to offer you more ways to live sustainably and beautifully. That’s why we introduced dried florals—an eco-friendly alternative to fresh cut flowers. These florals are not only stunning but also have a minimum shelf life of 3+ years, reducing the need for constant replacements and minimizing waste.

Creating Penso+Sono

One of the highlights of our journey has been creating our in-house brand, Penso+Sono. Here, I hand-make manifestation gemstone bracelets, each piece infused with intention and positive energy. These bracelets are more than just accessories; they are tools for self-expression and manifestation, designed to inspire and uplift you.

Sourcing with Care

Our home decor is sourced in small batches, handmade by artisans overseas. Each piece is a testament to the skill and creativity of these artisans, ensuring that every item is unique and made with love. By working closely with these talented individuals, we are able to support their communities and preserve traditional crafts.
